Welcome to the debut album from Pro Audio, "Saturday We’re Even…" The record is forty-three minutes encompassing a broad spectrum of musical endeavors. Songs range from lo-fi pop to indie rock epics. But more than a collection of tunes, this is an album in the truest sense of the word with a definite beginning, middle, and end.

John Hoelle first began Pro Audio in the late 1990s. Influenced by artists like Sukpatch and Trevor Holland, he created home recordings filled with sampled drums, distorted keyboards, fuzzed-out bass, and his own double-tracked voice. These demos caught the ear of multi-instrumentalist Jason Fischer who joined forces with John, bringing along his own unique songwriting style. Ryan Thomson, a childhood friend of John’s, was enlisted to play drums, and the band was born. Creating a sound akin to Quasi, Ween, and Neutral Milk Hotel, the group played in the Launchpad scene around Southern California and then settled in to record this album.

"Saturday We’re Even…" was produced in Los Angeles, anchored in Pro Audio’s traditional live set-up of John on bass and vocals, Jason on electric piano or guitar and vocals, and Ryan on drums. The group’s sound was expanded with a wide variety of instrumentation as well as guests from the local music scene. Josh and Seth Kasselman (Boxing) both played guitar and sang back-ups. Rune Freeman (Boxing) played bass and sang back-ups. Roderick Cumming (The Wedding’s Off) played banjo, guitar, and sang back-ups. Joe Tepperman (Ebola Music Orchestra) played trombone. Justin Puhl (Lost Books) played violin, guitar, and sang back-ups. Local artists Jessica Hoelle, Mike Spohr, and Jonathan Redford also added backing vocals.
